CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release are gentle, soothing techniques that enhance the natural healing process of the entire body and mind.
“When a Nickel’s Weight is Worth a Pound of Cure.”
Sometimes, all the body needs to activate the healing process is a light touch by a skilled hand. CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle approach that works through our CranioSacral systems to alleviate a range of sensory, motor or neurological disorders, including:
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Stress and Tension related problems
Central Nervous System issues
CranioSacral Therapy can benefit the body in a number of ways—from bolstering overall health and resistance to disease, to alleviating a wide range of specific medical conditions, including chronic and acute pain.
Among the largest group benefiting from CranioSacral and SomatoEmotional Release are those suffering chronic symptoms that haven’t been aided by other approaches. In particular, this support is beneficial to those with head, neck or back injuries resulting from an accident—be it from a car, sports, work mishap or from a fall.
CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release are applied with an extremely light touch (usually about the weight of a nickel), making it ideal for children, infants and newborns with early traumas, including birth trauma. This can be especially beneficial with timely identification. Release of restrictions in the CranioSacral system may prevent future difficulties.
The CranioSacral system is comprised of the membranes lining the skull, covering the spinal cord, and lining the sacrum, coccyx and fascia. These membranes encase the cerebral-spinal fluid, which bathes and supplies nutrients to the brain and the entire nervous system.
Like the pulse of the cardiovascular system, the CranioSacral system has a rhythm that can be felt throughout the entire body. Skilled practitioners can monitor this rhythm at key body points to locate the source of an obstruction or stress. Once a source has been determined, they can assist the natural movement of the fluid and related soft tissue to help the body self-correct. This simple action is often all it takes to remove a restriction. At other times, CranioSacral Therapy may be combined with other complementary therapies to help restore the body to its optimum functioning level.
Response to CranioSacral and SomatoEmotional Release varies from individual and condition to condition. Your response is uniquely your own and can’t be compared to anyone else’s—even those cases that may appear to be similar. The number of sessions needed varies widely—from just one, up to three or more a week over the course of several weeks.
