      DESCRIPTION

Long before postpartum recovery became a wellness trend, Maya women were wrapping their bodies in the faja, a handwoven sash used for centuries to support the hips, pelvis, and abdomen before and after childbirth. Traditional fajas are used to keep the uterus in place, and to provide support to the low back and pregnant bellies.

The faja is worn snugly around the hips and lower abdomen to provide gentle, even compression, supporting pelvic floor recovery, stabilizing the sacrum, and encouraging the body to close and realign after birth. It is a cornerstone of traditional Maya postpartum care, used from the earliest days of recovery.

      How to Wear It

Wrap firmly around the hips and pelvis, layering upward toward the navel for full abdominal support. Can be worn anytime pelvic stability and core support are needed. Here is a video about how to tie it. Do NOT wear when sitting for any length of time, or while you sleep. Best when worn while actively moving.
